The SFU is delighted to welcome Alan Rough MBE, one of the most popular and well-loved Scottish footballers of the past few decades.  As anyone who has spent more than a few minutes in his company knows, Roughie is never far from a smile and a laugh, while his collection of anecdotes from his club and country days is justifiably famous, if not always suitable for a younger audience.

A star of 53 Scottish international line-ups over more than a decade, with over 400 appearances for Partick Thistle (including, of course, the seminal 4-1 victory over Celtic in the 1971 League Cup final), 175 League appearances for Hibs and a smattering of other shifts at Celtic, Hamilton Accies and Ayr United, Roughie then went on to further success during a five year stint as manager of Glenafton.

His continuing presence as a regular on the shows on our partners at PLZ have introduced him to a new generation of fans, all of whom, like us, find his amusing insight and punditry a source of entertainment and enlightenment, in (almost) equal proportions.

Welcome Roughie – our latest Fan Ambassador!
