Our latest addition to the SFU Disability Team

I'm delighted to announce a new member of our Disability Team. Tommy Mackay is a striker for the Scottish National Amputee team and is famous for scoring a memorable goal in a half-time challenge at Tannadice, which you can see at this link on YouTube. In fact, this goal was SO memorable that it won the SPFL 'Goal of the Month' and the trophy for this sits proudly on Tommy's side-table in his living room. On the international front, Tommy was the first person to score an international goal for the Amputee team, something else he's (justifiably) very proud of too.

Tommy is a 41 year old father of three boys, aged 14, 12 and 5.  He's a retired stockbroker and is currently in kidney failure which requires weekly treatment as an in-patient. He tells me he's a passionate Scottish football and rugby supporter and in his spare time watches Dundee United and Scotland as often as possible (something he shares with another member of our Disability Team, Jon Attenborough) .

As an active and able amputee, Tommy will bring yet another perspective, which will differ from the other members of the team, giving us his unique view on playing and spectating as a disabled person. We are really pleased he's decided to join and we will be adding more disabled players and fans to the team over the rest of the year.
